Director's Message

At Coffs Harbour Senior College we are committed to preparing students to have the best opportunities once they have left school. We promote a cooperative environment that fosters the development of knowledge, skills, attitudes, self-reliance and a sense of self-worth that will enable students to maximize their personal potential.
At all times students are engaged in learning experiences that are relevant, challenging, achievable, stimulating and useful. Our students benefit from the opportunity to learn in a senior learning environment that enhances their development as responsible, autonomous and self-directed learners.
A Unique Experience
The College is the first of its kind in NSW and is a partner with TAFE and Southern Cross University on one site known as Coffs Harbour Education Campus (CHEC).The College provides opportunities for students who are serious about their education. We provide a comprehensive educational opportunity for students to achieve in an adult learning environment while still having access to a wide range of support services.
State of the Art Facilities
A prime function of the College is to be a tertiary preparation centre for students. Our students have access to computer laboratories, library facilities, commercial kitchens and a student learning centre which provide access to the latest technologies. Students also have access to a cafeteria, coffee shop, automatic teller, Co-Op Bookshop and other facilities not normally available in a traditional school but are available to our students because of the partnership.
A Great Learning Environment
The College provides opportunities for students in Years 11 and 12 to gain their Higher School Certificate in conditions that are without equal in Australia. The college has a different approach to learning and the learning environment. Succinctly, this means that students are expected to take responsibility for their learning in a very supportive adult environment. This approach has been very successful as students have achieved top results consistently in an environment where they have enjoyed learning. Students are on a first name basis with their teachers, and are offered the opportunities to seek support from their mentor teachers and through the after school learning centre.
Students enjoy a refreshing learning environment that encourages a work ethic and a set of values that will give them the edge for their future studies and careers. The college provides students with the widest possible curriculum choices including a range of academically challenging courses and an extensive range of vocational and TAFE courses. Students are even able to access University developed courses.
Have a close look at our website to find out more about the fantastic opportunities we offer for students of the Coffs Coast or contact the college on 02 6659 3010.
