Why Study Here Why Study Here
Coffs Harbour Senior College is a unique learning environment for students completing their HSC. The unique environment is brought about through a partnership with Southern Cross University and North Coast Institute (TAFE), located at the Coffs Harbour Education Campus (CHEC).
The College provides opportunities for students who are serious about their education to study in an adult learning environment.
We provide a comprehensive educational opportunity for students to achieve, with modern facilities, dedicated teachers and a great range of subjects. The College was recently identified as a Centre For Excellence.
Centre For Excellence
The College is a Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, part of a Government Program to develop high quality teaching and to improve teacher training. Through this program, the College has an "Highly Accomplished Teacher" who works on site and with neighbouring schools to help develop improved teacher knowledge and skills.
Dedicated to HSC
Students of the College receive the benefit of attending a school that is dedicated to helping them achieve their best possible result in the HSC. Our teachers are able to focus on the needs of senior students, without the distractions of junior students. We provide a supportive learning environment, with additional resources and study support to help students achieve their best.
You can also read the 2012 Higher School Certificate Rules & Procedures on the Board of Studies Website for more information about the HSC.
Laptop Program
All students who attend Coffs Harbour Senior College are provided with an internet connected student laptop as part of the Federal Government's Digital Education Revolution. Our DER wireless network provides internet access across the Campus, including the library, classrooms and some of our specialist learning facilities.
Modern Facilities
Through our partnership with North Coast Institute of TAFE and Southern Cross University, Coffs Harbour Senior College can offer students a range of modern facilities that are not typical of a traditional high school.
Adult Environment
Coffs Harbour Senior College is dedicated to Year 11 and 12 students, operating on a campus that is shared with TAFE and University students. We provide an adult learning environment that is more like University than a regular "7-12" school.
There are no uniforms to wear and no bells to remind you to go to class.
Instead of six periods a day, our students participate in three two-hour sessions designed to maximise the learning opportunities.
Dedicated Teachers
As we only teach Years 11 and 12, our teachers are dedicated to assisting students to achieve their best possible HSC result.
Subject Choice
Students at Coffs Harbour Senior College also benefit from the wide range of subject choices on offer. As the College concentrates only on Year 11 and 12, we are able to offer students a flexible timetable with plenty of subjects to choose from.
